WALLET. KEYS. PHONE.

by ADAM FORD

Stop. Wait. What does this remind you of? The dark. The stars. The bite of frost in the air. Over there, the sound of a train whistling. If you had to carry three things in your pocket wherever you went, what would they be? Wallet. Keys. Phone. What if you weren’t allowed those three things? What if there was no such thing as wallets or keys or phones? A photo of my wife and daughters. A piece of smooth green glass that I found in my father’s jacket. A two dollar coin to warm in my hand.
